about

LIttle Circles is the debut CD by The Vespertine Orchestra. The titles comes from Sadie Sonntag's idea how all music is essentially made of small blocks of melodic and harmonic ideas that are looped over and over. These chunks then become a larger organism over time. The roots of the music may be considered Minimalism as pioneered by the likes of Philip Glass, Terry Riley, Lamonte Young, Steve Reich, and later, John Adams Yet the heart of the music is in its emphasis on dynamics, timbre, and subtle rhythmic changes with the chord changes being secondary. Of course, the music is music you either sit back and listen to, or get up and dance.
